In August, Jiaxin Yu joined the Department of Geoscience and Petroleum at Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).
Her supervisors are Kenneth Duffault and Per Avseth. Jiaxin is going to work on estimating the timing and magnitude of net exhumation in Norwegian offshore Norwegian using compaction based techniques from geophysical and well data. one of her jobs is to model the stress sensitivity of seismic waves as well as temperature and salinity dependencies of resistivity so that they could be compensated for constructing normal compaction trends from geophysical data. The whole modeling framework will be integrated into a statistical framework for uncertainty analysis. Automating the estimation procedure in an exploration area by means of different regression and pattern recognition methods will also be investigated.
Jiaxin is a group member of GAMES project aiming to develop innovative methods for exploration and safe production of hydrocarbon resources in offshore Noway.
Jiaxin got her Master’s Degree in Applied Geoscience from RWTH-Aachen Germany in March this year. Applying Machine learning methods in Geoscience and Geophysics research is her interest.
