PhD student Vegar Stenhjem Hagen was the department’s representative at the OG21 Forum 2018, held in Oslo November 29 2018. The title of his presentation was “Seismisk inversjon – tilnærminger og usikkerhet”. The presentation can be downloaded here.
The November conference in Rio de Janeiro is a cooperation conference between Norway and Brazil, which is being held for the sixth time this year. The conference is an initiative from Norwegian universities and research institutes, and is supported by the Research Council and OED. A number of universities and institutions are partners in Brazil. See the program for this year’s conference here.
Six persons from the engineering geology group at IGP were in Singapore last week to participate in ARMS10 – The 10th Rock Mechanics Symposium. The group consists of Professors Bjørn Nilsen, Krishna Panthi and Charlie Li, and PhD candidates Bibek Neupane, Lena Selen and Henki Ødegaard. ARMS10 is an International Symposium under the ISRM – International Society for Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering, consisting of 61 member nations and 8200 individual members. Of the member nations 31 are in Europe. Charlie Li is the ISRM Vice President for Europe. EUROCK 2020 is organized by ISRM in Trondheim in 2020. PhD candidate Henki Ødegaard is the head of the organizational committee and Professor Charlie Li is the head of the Technical Committee. Society of Core Analysts is a professional organization for petrophysicists and others that work with porous materials, see their home pages. This week their Annual Meeting 2018 is arranged at Royal Garden Hotel in Trondheim. The Conference Chair is Carl Fredrik Berg, IGP
As an offspring of the IO Center at NTNU the 7th workshop on production optimisation is currently conducted in Rio, now with support of INTPART. Participants are, in addition to NTNU, universities and companies in Brasil, and the arrangement is held at Petrobras’ Research Center in Rio, CEMPES. Alexey Pavlov, Arild Nystad and Morten Hovd (Cybernetics) are among the participants from NTNU.
The 2018 Energy Change conference, formerly called Norskehavskonferansen, is being arranged in Kimen at Stjørdal coming Thursday, see link. Participants are limited to 200, however, it is still possible to sign up. Many prominent speakers! Students may enter free of charge!
Last Thursday there was a full house in the San Siro Hall at Scandic Lerkendal when the Petroleum Evening 2018 was arranged. About 150 petroleum students, invited staff and guests enjoyed engaged debates, lectures and entertainment. See the program here.
NPF’s annual oil industry policy seminar is held today and tomorrow in Sandefjord. Participation is only by personal invitation, and many leading industrial personnel, politicians and organisational leaders participate. This year NTNU participates with Egil Tjåland and Arild Nystad, and has a stand where BRU21 is emphasised. More photos.
